Abstract Objective For searching bioactive secondary metabolites from fungal sources, the fungus Paraconiothyrium sp.ACC31771 isolated from the soil of Kanas Lake,Burjin County, Xinjiang, China, was chemically investigated. MethodsThe soil-erived fungus Paraconiothyrium sp.ACC31771 was fermented using potato dextrose broth (PDB) medium. The fermentation broth and the mycelia were separated by filtration. The mycelia were further extracted by ultrasound with 100% acetone, and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain crude extract. Allcompounds were isolated and purified sequentially using silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH20 gel column chromatography and semi-preparative liquid chromatography. ResultsSeven known compounds were found and studied. These included decaturin B(1),15-hydroxydecaturin A (2)and oxalicine B (3), which wereoxalicine-typealkaloids,and1,8-dihydroxy-3-methy1-9,10-anthracenedione (4),1,3,8-trihydroxy-6- methyl-9,10-anthracenedione (5), citreorosein (6), and (+) -2'S-isorhodoptilometrin (7), which were anthracenediones. Compounds 5 and 7 showed inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus with both MIC values of 64μg/mL :
