Preliminary Report on Investigation of Grassland Rodents in Ningxia

Abstract From June to December 2O23,a surveywas conducted on the occurrence and harm of rodents in the grasslands of Ningxiausingthe methodof lineinspectionand standard siteinvestigation.Accordingtothediferences in grassland types and the areaof diferentcounties in Ningxia,3OO inspection points weresetupin11 counties,and 259 sampling pointsof 36 routes were inspected.Among them,167 inspection points did notfind mouse holes,and the densityof mouse holeopenings in 92 inspection points was5-730 perhectare,with anaverage of 128 per hectare.Due to thelush vegetation on the surface and indistinct soil mounds,the number of moles inthe mountain meadows of the four counties in southern Ningxia was notcounted.Among the 44 standard plots,there were 33 above ground mouse standard plots,of which 7 plots hadacapture rate of O,and theremaining 26 plots hadacapture rate between 0.5% and 4% and 71 individuals from 5 species of rodents were trapped,including the Meriones meridianus Palls, Spermophilusalaschanicus,Allactaga sibirica Forster,Dipussagitta,and Cricetulus migratorius,with an overall trapping rate of 1.2%.11 underground mouse sample plots were established, with 2 plots having acapture rate of 0 and the remaining 8 plots having a capture rate of 3.33% 20% and 23 individuals from 2 species were trapped,including the Parascaptor leucurus and Eospalax cansus ,with an overall capture rate of 7% . This survey obtained the types, distribution,anddegreeof harmof harmfulrodentsintheNingxiagrassland,systematicallyevaluatedthecurrent situationandfuture trendsofrodent harmin theNingxia grassland,andprovidedbasicdataandscientific management suggestions for rodent management in the Ningxia grassland.
