Analysis on the Impact of Increasing Data Center Ambient Temperature to 32∘C on the Reliability of Miniature Circuit Breakers in Existing AC Header Cabinets

Abstract:To solve the problems of high cooling energy consumption anddificultyin Power Usage Effectiveness(PUE)optimizationin datacenters,AC header cabinets in existing data centersare takenas the research subject.Theimpact of increasing ambient temperature to 32°C ontheoperational reliabilityofminiature circuit breakers(MCBs)inthefeederbranchesof header cabinetsis focusedon,and the feasibilityofreducing PUE byraising temperature is explored.ABB S2OO seriesMCBs with a high market share are selected.Firstly,the rated currentrequirements of theAC header cabinetsarecalculated through formulas.Then,athermal modelof the header cabinet is established using Ansys software,and the internal temperature under 32 C ambient temperature is simulated.The results show that the temperature at the installation position of the feeder MCBs is : Subsequently,combined with GB/T10963.1—2020 Electrical accessories—Circuit breakers forovercurrent protection for householdand similar instalations—Part1:Circuit-breakers for a.c.operationand product specifications,the possibilityof misoperationof thefeederMCBsisanalyzedtheoretically.Finally,experimental verificationis performed on 45 MCBs(divided into 5 groups)under the conditions of 40 ℃/45 C ambient temperatures and0.85In/1 .05In loads.The results show that increasing the ambient temperature of the data center to 32‰ does not cause misoperation ofthe MCBsin the feeder branches of the header cabinet,nor does itafect the power supply reliability.
