Performance Analysisand Structural Optimization of the Intake and ExhaustSystem ofFSAE Racing Car

Abstract ∵ To enhance the comprehensive performance of the FSAE racing car engine and effectively address its limitations in spatial layout,this paper designsan intake system that adoptsa side intake method and has a built-in Venturi tube.By combining simulation optimization methods,an in-depth study was conducted on the structural form of the side intake system.Firstly,two representative design scheme modelswere constructed using SolidWorks 3D modeling software.Subsequently, based on the ANSYS Fluent fluid simulation platform, adetailed hydrodynamic analysis of the internal flow fields ofthe two schemes Was carriedout,witha focus on evaluating their mass flow characteristics.Meanwhile,a one-dimensional working process simulation modelof the engine was established with GT-Power software.The influence laws of the key geometric parameters of the intake system on the performance indicators such as the power performance and economy of the engine were systematicallyanalyzed.Based on theabove research,an intakesystem structure was finallydesigned, in which theintake main pipe (Venturi tube) was integrated and arranged inside the pressure stabilizing chamber.The simulation analysis results show that this design scheme not only effectively improves the inflation efficiency and power performance of the engine,but also better solves the layout problem of the side intake system on the racing car caused by the narrow space.
