Abstract:To investigate the effects ofdifferent intercropping methods of lablab bean (Dolichos lablab L.)and silage maize (Zea mays L.)on grass production performance and forage quality,a randomized block design was adopted in this experiment,and two mixed sowing methods were set up,peer mixed sowing ( T0 : Mono-cropping of maize; T1 :silagemaize +1 seed of lablab bean hole sowing; T2 :silage maize +2 seeds of lablab bean hole sowing; T3 : silage maize +3 seeds of lablab bean hole sowing) and inter row mixed sowing( Δ⋅X0 : Monocropping of maize; X1 : silage maize +15kg⋅hm-2 lablab bean; X2 : silage maize +22 5kg⋅hm-2 lablab bean, X3: (20 silage maize- +30kg⋅hm-2 lablab bean). The results showed that the stem diameter of silage maize under peer mixed sowing ( ΔT1 , T2 ,and T3 ) was significantly increased by 13.9% , 15.0% ,and 26.4% ,respectively,compared to that of maize monoculture. For total dry matter,there was no significant diference in peer mixed sowing T1 compared to maize monoculture,while both mixing treatments ( T2 and T3 )were significantly lower compared to maize monoculture. There was no significant diference in inter row mixed sowing of X1 and X2com- pared to maize monoculture,while X3 treatment was significantly lower than maize monoculture. In inter row mixed sowing,the crude protein content of X1 and X2 was significantly increased by 27.5% and 57.0% ,respec tively,compared to that of X0 . In summary,it is recommended that silage maize inter-row mixing of 22.5 kg⋅hm-2 ( :X2: lablab beans can be used as a suitable mixing method in the northern part of Shaanxi Province.
