AbstractParis polyphylla Smith var.chinensis （Franch.） Hara is a plant of theLiliaceae family and is one of the two main sources under the monograph of Rhizoma Paridis in Chinese Pharmacopoeia.The Paris polyphylla var.chinensis has avarietyof pharmacological efects，includingantibacterialandanti-inflammatoryanalgesicand antiemetic，tumor treatment，antiviraland immunomodulation，etc.Ithasbeen widelyused inclinics forantibacterial and anti-inflammatory purposes.Paris polyphylavar.chinensis has good antimicrobial activity against a variety of bacteriaand fungi，including Escherichia coli，Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans.Itsantimicrobial mechanism mainly includes destroying the structure ofbacterial cell membrane andcell wall，inhibiting enzyme activity，affecting the synthesis of protein nucleic acid，and improving the body's immunity and other pathways. Paris polyphylla var.chinensis is rich in medicinal components，pharmacological activityand diverseantimicrobial mechanisms，and the development of clinical applications can reduce the problem of drug resistance generated by antibiotics.Thisarticlereviewed the research progress on the antibacterial efects and mechanisms of Paris polyphylla var.chinensis both domesticallyand internationallin recent years，aiming to provide reference for in-depth research on the antibacterial effects of Paris polyphyll var.chinensis，expand the development of new antibacterial drugs， explorethe medicinal value of Paris polyphylla var.chinensis，and reduce the problem of drug resistance caused by antibiotic abuse.
