Abstract Toona sinensis （A.Juss.）Roem.isa plant ofthe Meliaceae familyandisaversatile tree species that can be used for medicinal，foodand timber purposes.Itisoneof the traditional Chinese herbal medicinesandhas various effcts such aswarming the bodyand reducing inflammation.Areviewis conductedon the distributionof Toona sinensis resources，itsdevelopmentandutilization valueand the currentresearch status.The folowing suggestions are proposed： ① Strengthen the exploration of the edible functions of Toona sinensis; ② Strengthen the research on the medicinal components and medicinal mechanisms of Toona sinensis; ③ Strengthen the exploration and discussion of the forage value of Toona sinensis; ④ Strengthen the research on the anti-seasonal cultivation techniques and the facilityenvironmental regulationofToonasinensis.Inorder toprovidereferencefor the high-qualitydevelopmentof the Toona sinensis industry in China.
