Business Model Innovation in the Sports Industry in the Digital Economy Era:Theory and Practice

Abstract:Businessmodel innovation has becomeacrucialforcedriving thegrowthofbothenterprisesandindustries.Against the backdropof thedigital economy,studyingbusinessmodel innovationinthesports industryhassignificantimplicationsfor promotingthedevelopment inthesports industryandbuilding China intoaleading sports nation.Thisstudydrawsonliterature review,caseanalysisandcomprehensiveobservationmethods toexplorebusiness modelinnovationinthesportsindustry,and constructsatheoreticalmodelencompasingiovationmotivationinnovationelements,innovationmodels,ndinovtion pathways.Theinnovationof businessmodelsinthesportsindustryisdrivenbyinternalandexternalfactorssuchas technologicaltransformation,marketdemand,ndenterpriseevelopment.Thestudyidentifiesfourbasictypesofbusine model innovationinthesportsidustry:marketexploitation,marketexploration,technologyexploitation,andtechnology exploration.Fourrepresentative enterprise cases are analyzed basedonthe four dimensionsofthe businessmodel innovation. Buildingon theseinsights,thestudyproposesfour innovationpathways:throughthediscoveryand fulfilmentofmarket demand,throughuser valueco-creationandinclusivenes,through sports technologyinovationand leadership,andhrough the reconstruction of the sports consumption ecosystem.
