Summary of the best evidence for the management of perioperative feeding intolerance in children with congenital heart disease

Abstract Objective:To retrieve,evaluate,and summarize the best evidence for the management of perioperative feeding intolerance in children with congenital heart disease(CHD).Methods:Relevant literature on risk factors,prevention,assessment,monitoring,and intervention of perioperative feeding intolerance in CHD children was systematically retrieved from domestic and foreign evidence-based resource databases,guideline websites,and official websites of relevant professional associations from the establishment of the database to October 25,2023.Two personnel who had participated in the evidence-based nursing course training conducted the literature screening,quality evaluation,evidence extraction,and evidence integration.Results:A total of 16 articles were included,including 4 guidelines,6 systematic reviews,3 expert consensus,1 expert opinion,1 randomized controlled trial,and 1 cohort study.Finally,35 pieces of evidence were extracted from 5 aspects:risk factors,prevention,monitoring and evaluation,feeding plan formulation,and intervention for feeding intolerance.Conclusions:This study provides clinical medical staff with the best evidence for the management of perioperative feeding intolerance in CHD children.It is recommended that the best evidence should be applied selectively according to the clinical environment and the wishes of the children′s parents.
