An Analysis of Parenting Support Services in American Public Libraries

AbstractPublic libraries play acritical role in ofering parenting support services as essential hubs for public cultural services and social education. Notably，American public libraries have pionered the exploration of parenting supportservices，focusing on childcareandearly education.Online research findings reveal that guided by industry associations，these libraries have initially developedan integrated support framework，emphasizing familyengagement， collborative networks，diverse content，andbrand building.This integrated approach involves establishing specialized columns focusing on parenting，providing resources for parental education，organizing supportive initiatives，and developing brands for parenting services.To advance in thisarea，Chinese public libraries canlearn from their American counterparts，considering China’sunique context whilerefining practices guided by industry assciations.Embracing theconceptof“family involvement”，integratingaudiencefeedback，fostering collaborationnetworks，setingupffct evaluation，and strategizing national initiatives arepivotal steps towards improvement.Bycrafting acomprehensive blueprint for parenting services，consolidating societal resources，and addressing the precise needs offamilies seeking support，auniquelyChinese parenting support modelcan emerge.This model has the potential tosignificantlycontribute to nurturing a more parent-friendly society.
