Trait Analysis and Comprehensive Evaluation of Different Maize Hybrids in the Hexi Corridor

Abstract:Byanalyzing thetraitsof maize hybridsintheHexi Coridorregion,thisstudyaims toenhance theaccuracyof inovativeutilizationofmaizegermplasmresources,scientifcallmatchparentallines,andtherebyimprovetheeficiencyofelite varietybreeding.2Omaizehybridswerecomprehensivelyanalyzedfordiseaseresistance,yield,ndyield-relatedtraitsusing methodsincludingclusteranalysis,greyrelationalanalysis,andmembershipfunctionevaluation.Resultsshowed thatstemrotwas the primary disease affecting maize hybrids in the Hexi Corridor,with natural incidence rates ranging from 0% to 90.0% ,and the highesticidenceobservedinthehybridE9706-121Xian38.Thecontributionofyield-relatedtraits tomaizeyield,indescending order,waseardiameter,hundred-kerelweight,numberofkernelrowsperar,kernelsetingrate,numberofkemelsperrow, barrentiplength,andlodgingrate.Clusteranalysiscategorizedthe20hybridsinto3groups.GroupIincluded11medium-yield hybridssuchas5874,56C5617,meia3(entrolriety)5821658JB8 × (204号 J4CV3,3358×J4CV2BC,Jiu714×723,658BC0×723,andEr9706-121×723.Group I included8low-yieldhybridssuch as91M9 × Xian38,Er9706-121×Xian38,Er9706-121×F20,Huaqing105 I × 3358,XD6CR × Er9706-121,J765 × 723,3358 × 1CPSBC3,and J765×Jiu14.GouplincludedonlyHeyul87(tescondcontrolvariety),characteredasigielding.Temembershipfuctio was used for comprehensive evaluation of maize yield and key traits. The D -values of thehybridsranged fromO.265 to 0.693,with Heyu187(the second control variety),3358xJ4CV2BC,658BC0×723,and Jiu714x723 exhibiting higher D -values and overall superior performance,indicating potential for further breeding trials.
