Characteristics of Vegetation Changes and Response to Groundwater Depth in the Lower Reach Region of Mihe River

Abstract:To explore the response of surface ecology to changes of groundwater level,the normalized diffrence vegetation index (NDVI)of thelowerreachof MeheRiverfrom 2O08to 2022 was used,andthe spatialand temporal characteristics of vegetation in the studyarea were analyzed bythetrend calculations,Mann-Kendallsignificance test,and Hurst index.Theclimaticand groundwaterbathymetrydatasets were combined,and theresponserelationship between vegetationand groundwater burial depth changes inthe lower reach of MiheRiver was studiedthrough thecorrelation and relative contribution data.Theresultsshowthat the NDVIof vegetation inthe lower reach of MiheRiver generally shows a fluctuating growth trend from 2008 to 2022,with a growth rate of 0.82% ,and the proportion of improved area reaches (2 86.35% .The burial depth of groundwater significantly affects the growth of 9O%of the regional vegetation in the study area.Inthecentralandsouthernregions,theabilityof groundwater burial depthrestoration todrivevegetation improvement isrelatively weak,butinthenorthernregion,thisabilityisstronger,andtherelativecontributionrateis slightlyhigherthanthatofclimate.Groundwaterburial depth declinehasastrongerabilitytodrive vegetation degradation in thecentraland southernregions,resulting ina more fragileecosysteminthese areasandariskof vegetation degradation,which is the main cause of vegetation degradation.
