Sealing reliability of LNG shut-off valve based on ultra-low temperature experiment

Abstract: Based on the filing temperature and leakage rate data of LNG shut-off valves obtained from ultra-low temperature experiment,a new leakage analysis method based on finite element analysis is used to calculate the valve sealing surface clearance. Multiple influencing factors are considered to evaluate the leakage situation of ultra-low temperature shut-off valves and identify potential leakage hazards.The single factor analysis method is applied to identify five influencing factors related to valve leakage, including x -direction displacement,stem thread preload,sealing surface friction coefficient,alloy thermal expansion coeffcient,and elastic modulus.The sensitivity of these factors to the leakage rate is explored using the 6-sigma analysis method,the distribution of the leakage failure for this size of cut-off valve is provided,and the influencing factors that cause valve failure is visually demonstrated.
