Thermal balance analysis and structural optimization of vehicle based on RANS algorithm

Abstract:A thermal balance simulation of the engine compartment model of vehicle is conducted based on the RANS algorithm and water-air dual-flow model. The coolant temperature and flow field distribution within the engine compartment are obtained,and the thermal balance performance is predicted. Comparison through the thermal balance and heat damage test show that the error between the test and simulation is less than 6% ,and the reliability of the simulation results is verified. To solve the problem of high coolant temperature and engine compartment temperature of vehicle,an optimization solution of adding a wind deflector to the radiator is proposed,the optimization solution can reduce the coolant temperature by 8.90degreeC . The method of thermal balance analysis can effectively predict the cooling system capacity and thermal balance performance of vehicle,which can provide reference for improvement of the vehicle cooling system.
