Finite element modeling methods for bellows

Abstract:In order to verify the applicability of diffrent modeling methods for the finite element analysis of the bellows’structure mechanical characteristics,the bellows’theoretical values of axial stifess, bending stiffness and bending stress caused by axial force are obtained according to EJMA method,and 2D axisymmetric model,3D shell model and 3D solid model of bellws are established based on finite element method to solve the axial stiffness,bending stiffness and maximum stress of bellows. By comparing the relationship between the theoretical values and the finite elementvalues of the three models’axial stiffness,bending stifess and maximum stress,it shows that the three models are all suitable for the finite element analysis of the belows’structure mechanical characteristics,and the applicable scope of the three finite element models is given,which can provide a reference for the design and analysis of bellows.
