Study on Extraction Kinetics and Antioxidant Activity of Polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba

Abstract: The efficient extraction process of polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba is explored, which can provide references for application of polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba in food, medicine,cosmetic and other industries. Fick's second law is used to study the extraction kinetics model of polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba,and tests are conducted on in vitro antioxidant activity of polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba.The results show that the linear relationships of extraction kinetics fiting equations of function values such as rate constants,relative extraction efficiency and half-life period are good. The ability of polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba to scavenge DPPH·, NO2- , ABTS+ ·and O2- ·changes with variations in mass concentration of polysaccharides and reaction time. With the increase of the concentration of polysaccharides,the ability to scavenge DPPH ⋅ , NO2- , ABTS+ ·and O2- ·gradually increases. The polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba can inhibit the generation of lipid peroxides,and the content of peroxides and malondialdehyde(MDA)produced by blank liposomes at 60h is 1.3 times that of Radix Paeoniae Alba polysaccharide liposomes. The polysaccharides from Radix Paeoniae Alba are expected to be developed as functional food and natural medicine.
