Abstract: In this paper, Cydia pomonella , a world quarantine pest,was studied to explore its suitability on 1l walnut varieties and evaluate its potential harm risk. Utilizing oviposition preference experiments and growth and development performance assays, biological parameters including fecundity,egg stage,egg hatching rate and fruit-boring rate were measured. The results demonstrated that among the 11 walnut varieties, C . pomonella laid the highest number of eggs on Yuanlin, with an average of 4.74 eggs per fruit. The longest egg period occurred on ‘Xilin 1' (20 (8.19d) ,while the shortest was on‘Daixiang'(5.5O d). Moreover,‘Daixiang’ also showed the lowest egg hatching rate and no fruit-boring. Larval fruit-boringrate on ‘Luhe1'was the highest (2 (66.03% ),and that on‘Lukang g, was the lowest (2.78% ).Comprehensive analysis indicated that the fitness of C . pomonella on‘Yuanlin',‘Luhe and‘Ridi’was higher,whereas lower fitness was observed on‘Xilin ,‘Lukang g, ,‘Luguo and‘Daixiang'. This research clarifies the damage potential of C . pomonellaon 1l walnut cultivars,providing a theoretical foundation for optimizing distribution of cultivarsin production.
