Abstract： Pneumonia generally refers to infectious inflammation of the alveoli， distal airways， and lung interstitiumcaused bybacteria，viruses，orother pathogens.According to the theoryofsyndrome diferentiation in traditional Chinese medicine，the lungs are vulnerable to external infections and can become obstructed by phlegm. Clinical symptoms are often high feverand excesive phlegm.The multi-component， multi-target，and multi-pathway propertiesof traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） contribute to its multi-directionaltherapeutic efect on pneumonia. This articlecompiles literature from the past five years on the material basis of TCM in the treatment of pneumonia， aiming to summarize the material basis and mechanisms involved in the treatment of pneumonia with TCM.
