Abstract:Objective To explore theadsorption effectand mechanismof the modified coalbased zeoliteon methylene blue,to discuss theadsorptioncapacityand mechanism of zeolite for methylene bluedye before and after modification and to fully utilize coal resources to treat dye wastewater environmental problems.Methods Coal gangue,fly ash and coal gasification slag were used as raw materials to prepare A-type coal ganguebased zeolite, flyash based zeolite,and coal gasification slag based zeoliteby using the hydrothermal alkali fusion method.The prepared zeolites were modified with anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate,and characterized by XRF,XRD, BET,SEM,FT-IR and other techniques Results The research results showed that theadsorption to the methylene blue of the three zeolites modified with sodium dodecyl sulfate followed a quasi second order kinetic model.Both the Freundlich isotherm model and Langmuir model fited the adsorption well.The interparticle diffsion model indicated that the adsorption process was divided into three stages,surface difusion,pore diffusion and dynamic equilibrium.After 5regenerationcycles,the equilibrium adsorption capacity to the methylene blueof the coal based zeolite A before and after modificationon were still as high as about 80% of the original adsorption capacity.Conclusion Coal based solid waste is able to be successfully prepared into A type zeolite mainly composed of mesopores,with the improved adsorption performance to methylene blue after modification.This research result provides a theoretical basis for further exploring the green utilization of coal based solid waste.
