Exploration of Interconnection Between Theory of "Earth Element as the Pivot Coordinating the Other Four Zang-Organs with Circulation of a Single Qi" and the "Gut-Joint Axis" in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract：Rheumatoid arthritis（RA） is anautoimmune disease with unknown etiology，and itspathological changes often involve multiple systemsand organs besides the major joint lesions.Currently，the diagnosis and treatmentof thisdiseaseprimarily focusonlocaljoint lesions，whilesystemicmanifestations，including intestinal symptoms，have not received much atention.The theory of "the earth element （spleen and stomach）as the pivot coordinating the other four zang-organs with the circulationofasingleqi"emphasizes theregulatoryroleof the spleen and stomach in the middleenergizerontheother fourzang-organs andthebody'sqi mechanism.The "gut-joint axis"， from the perspectiveof organ interaction，focuses on the connection between the gut and the joints.There are commonalitiesbetween these two theories inunderstanding the pathogenesis and treatment strategies ofRA.This article aims toexplore therelationship between these two theories to provide some asistance in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of RA.
