Introduction and Selection of Forage Varieties in Yinchuan Section of Yellow River Beach in Ningxia

Abstract Inorderto screenoutecological restorationvarieties with strong ecological adaptabilityin theYinchuan sectionof theYellwRiverbeach inNingxia,theadaptability,plantheight growthandfresh grass yieldofdierent foragevarieties inthisarea were studiedandanalyzedbyfieldexperiments.Theresults showed that all varieties of foragegrasses could germ-emerge normalyduring the emergence period.Moreover,the green-uprateof the forage grasses of Poaceae family in the second year ranges from 11.4% to 97.6% ,and the green-up rate of Agropyron elongatum was the highest, reaching 97.6%. The green-up rates of Medicago sativa L. ranged from 51.2% to 70.3% with Ruide having the highest rate at 70.3% . The growth of the tested forage grasses was good. Through two years of observation,itwas known thattheforage grassesofthe Poaceae familywith bettergrowth inplantheight included Agropyronelongatum,PucinelladistansandLeymus chinensis (Trin.)Tzvelev,which weresignificantly higherthan thatof Elymus dahuricus Turcz. P<0.05 ). There was no significant difference compared with Festuca arundinacea Schreb.and Bromus inermis Leyss.Among Medicago sativaL.,those with relatively god height and growth are Ruide and Zhongmu No.3.Among the forage grasses of Poaceae family,Agropyron elongatum had thehighest yield,reaching 1461.47kg⋅667-1⋅m-2 ,which was significantly higher than that of other varieties( P<0.05 ).Among Medicago sativa L.,Zhongmu No.4 had the highest yield,reaching 1 409.19 kg⋅667-1⋅m-2 . Among the introduced forage grasses, Agropyronelongatum,Puccinelliadistans,Leymuschinensis (Trin.)zvelevRuide,ZhongmuNo.3andZhongmuNo.4 all have good growth and grass yield,which can promotelocal ecological restorationandaresuitable forplanting inthe Yinchuan section of the Yellow River beach in Ningxia.
