Treatment of Tinnitus from the Perspective of Six Meridians Based on the Theory of Turbid Toxin Obstructing the Orifices

Abstract：This studyelucidates the pathogenesis and treatment strategies for tinnitusbased onthe theoryof turbid toxinobstructingtheorificesand bycombining thetheoryof six-meridian syndrome diferentiation.Itis pointedout thatturbid toxin is a pathogenic factor and a kindof pathological product arising from emotional disturbances， dietary irregularities，and metabolic dysfunctions，which leads to the dysfunction of zang-fu organs and meridians.Thecore pathogenesisof tinitus is identifiedas turbid toxinobstructing theorifices.Folowing the theoryof six-meridian syndrome diferentiation，tinnituscanbe treated in stages：intheearly stage，tinnitus is atributed to shaoyang's failure inconveying and dispersing；in the progressve stage，tinnitus is due to taiyin's inabilityof transportationand transformation；inthelate stage，tinitusresults from insuffcient shaoyin failing in nourishment.Correspondingly，therapies of harmonizing shaoyang to expel pathogens，strengthening the spleen to eliminate turbidity，and nourishing the kidneys to resolve turbidityare performed with the modifieduse of Xiao Chaihu Decoction， Xiaoyao San combined with Shenling Baizhu San，and Erlong Zuoci Pills，respectively.The integration of the theoryof turbid toxinobstructing the orificesand the theoryof six-meridian syndrome differentiation notonly enriches the traditional Chinese medicine pathogenesis of tinitus，but also provides new insights forits clinical treatment.
