The influence of humic acid addition on the performance of leaf cellulose-based absorbent polymer

AbstractIn order to improve the properties of leaf cellulose based water absorbent resin (LCPAAMPS),humic acid (HA) extracted from weathered coal was added,and leaf cellulose-humic acid based composite absorbent resin (LC-HA-PAAMPS) was synthesized by aqueous polymerization. The changes in the properties of the absorbent resin before and after the addition of HA,such as liquid absorption,water retention,salt resistance and acid and alkali resistance,were compared. The resin was characterized by infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,and thermal gravimetric analysis to analyze the in material structure and micro characteristics.The results show that the structure of LC-HAPAAMPS include HA has more hydrophilic, which is conducive to swelling.LC-HA-PAAMPS has more porous structures and more uniform wrinkles,increasing the water absorption rate by 37.12% and the water absorption rate by 81.12% ,significantly improving the liquid absorption performance. In comparison,LC-HA-PAAMPS has better water retention,salt resistance,resistance,acid and alkali resistance,and repeated water absorption performance.It is more suitable for application in the arid environment of complex sali-alkali land.
