Analysis of Occupant Injury and Countermeasures in Vehicle-to-Vehicle Oblique Collisions Caused by Cooperative Obstacle Avoidance

【Abstract】Based on the vehicle-vehicle oblique collsion accident scenario caused by cooperative obstacle avoidance, thispaperanalyzes thedisplacementresponseandocupantinjury.2variablesareselected,namelythe barierresidual vehicle speedandthecollsion overlaprate:4 types ofbarrer vehiclespeedsand 3 types ofcollisionoverlaprates are set respectively.The displacement phenomenon of occupants caused by cooperative obstacle avoidanceand occupants injuries duringthecollsioprocesareanalyzed;theactivepretensioningseatbeltismatchedanditsrestraintefectonthedisplaced occupants is analyzed.Theresults show thatcooperativeobstacle avoidancecan causeobvious lateraldisplacementof the occupants,reducing theprotectiveeffectofthebasicrestraintsystem,especiallforright-leaningseatedoccupants,theseat belthascompletelydetachedfromtheocupants’shoulders.Fromtheanalysisresultsof thetestmatrix,theoccupantwill suffer the highest comprehensive damage when the collision overlap rate is about 30% . The restraint system equipped with activeseatbelthasgoodrestraintefectonthedisplacementmovementoftheoccupantsduring thecooperativeobstacle avoidanceprocessThelateraldisplacementoftheoccupantsissignificantlyeduced,andthecomprehensiveinjuryriskofthe occupantsdecreases,whereasthereisstillahighriskofinjurytotheoccupants’heads inthecollsioncondition witha50% overlap rate.
