Abstract： This paper focuses on the nomination of the Colonial Transisthmian Route of Panamá at the 46th Session of World Heritage Committee. By analyzing the background of this site and the nomination process，the concept of renomination in the World Heritage context， similar cases，and the relationship between values of the old and new properties before and after the renomination of the Panamá case， the paper illustrates the possibility of solving conservation problems of existing properties via renomination，as well as the problems that may arise from this approach. It was concluded that this approach， though technically feasible and consistent with the Operational Guidelines，does not substantially address the threats to the properties; and that the replacement of old values with new valuesmayleadtolossofcredibility ofWorldHeritageList.
