Abstract : Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common progressive neurodegenerative disease in the world. The most significant pathological changes in PD are the abnormal aggregation of α -synuclein and the progressve loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)is an energy and metabolism-regulating enzyme, and AMPK activation produces various effects related to PD. This article mainly expounds the basic regulation of AMPK and its impact on PD,providing a theoretical basis for AMPK-targeted therapy for PD.

Key words:adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase;Parkinson's disease;mitochondria;energy metabolism; α -synuclein
