Application potential of orchard grasses cultivation in acidified soil improvement

Abstract:The traditional clean cultivation system in orchards,aswell as the excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer,resulting in severe soil acidification of orchard in Jiaodong area.The acidified soil results ina decline in orchard productivity as well as fruit flavor and quality.Therefore, effective improvement of acidified soil is urgent.Grass cultivation in orchards is a soil management measure that involves planting herbaceous plants as cover between rows or throughout the whole orchard.This article mainly summarizes the functional role of grasscover in improving the physical andchemical properties of orchard soil,optimizing soil microbial communities,and improving fruit quality in recent years.It is expected to provide references for further exploration of the application potential of grassland cultivation in effectively improving the acidified soil of Jiaodong orchards and enhancing the productivity of orchards and the quality of fruits.
