Research progress in cherry germplasm resources and new cultivar breeding in China

Abstract：Cherry is an important deciduous fruit tree in China.There are abundant cherry germplasm resources in China and the works on new cultivar breeding progressed continuously. This paper reviewed the major research progress in the investigation，collection，preservation， evaluation and identificationof cherry germplasm resources and new cultivar breeding in China. The current problems were also discussed and future research prospects were analyzed.
