Abstract:In this paper,fora foreign nuclear power project' spent fuel storage sleeve square tube and neutron absorber plate manufacturing process.Traditionally,using Tungsten Inert Gas(TIG)welding presented challenges such as the need for hole opening,high welding workload,dificulty post-weld rectification,and high skillrequirements for welders etc.Considering the advantages of laser welding—such as high power density,low heat input,stable quality,high automation,and lower skillrequirements for operators—a series of laser welding experiments were conducted to identifythe most suitable welding structure.The weldability of the neutron-absorption plates was analyzed,and the welded test plates underwent penetrant testing (PT),radiographic testing (RT),tensile-shear testing,and macroscopic examination to ensure the mechanical properties and the integrity of the laser-welded joints. The influence of laser welding parameters—including power,scanning speed,scanning width,welding speed,and beam factors etc.—on welding quality was analyzed.Finally,the use of laser intermitent welding,weld molding beautiful,penetration test qualified,no welding repair,no rectification,efficiency increased by more than ten times,achieved considerable economic benefits and providing a reference for the subsequent manufacturing of such equipment.
