Abstract : To investigate the service performance of trains operating at higher speed under strong crosswind, a method combining the aerodynamicsand vehicle dynamics,suitable for high-speed trains,is developed.The aerodynamic and vehicle dynamic models for coupling calculation was constructed. Coupled calculations under the open air and open crosswind conditions were carried out.The aerodynamic characteristics,vibration characteristics,and operation stability under the two cases are analyzed separately. Compared to that under open air,it was found that,under opencrosswind,the aerodynamic drag of the tailcar increases,and thefluctuation amplitude of the aerodynamic drag of the head car increases,but the mean value changes litle. Both the aerodynamic lateral forces oftheheadcarand the tailcar increase significantly,theaerodynamic liftof the tail car increases upward,the fluctuation amplitude of the aerodynamic lift of the head car increases.The vertical displacement of the tail car body increases significantly and deviates from its original equilibrium position, while thevertical displacement of the headcar body slightly decreased at some locations.Both the lateral displacementsofthehead and tailcar bodies increase significantly,and both the vertical acceleration and lateral acceleration oftheheadcarbody increase significantly.The lateral stabilitylevels ofthe headcar and the tail car decrease,with the head car beingatLevel2 and the tail car beingbelowLevel 3.
