Abstract: With the advancement of technological innovation and interdisciplinary research,the phenomenon of water hammer has been applied in various engineering fields, possessing significant practical value. Currently, the main application areas of water hammer in enginering include: water hammer harmonic demulsification technology,reservoir unclogging techniques,and fracture diagnosis methods.This paper systematically reviews the application background of water hammer phenomena in these engineering fields,analyzes the mechanisms by which water hammer occurs in practice, explores the advantages of current application scenarios, and presents some representative research findings. Aditionaly, the paper discusss the advantages of current water hammer application scenarios, while also identifying existing limitations such as the need for improved energy efficiency, restricted application scope, and incomplete theoretical models. Finally,the paper looks ahead to future research directions, including the integration of deep learning algorithms to promote broader and more sustainable applications of water hammer technology in engineering, thereby providing strong support for achieving efficient energy utilization and environmental sustainability.
