Preliminary Study on Fruit Cracking Characteristics and Differences in Fruit Cracking Rate among Cultivars (Lines)ofLycium barbarum L.

Abstract Aiming at the problem offruit cracking of Lycium barbarum during the red-ripening period when exposed to high temperature and rain,anartificial indoor water immersion method wasadopted to induce cracking,and a comparative studyonthecharacteristicsoffruitcracking of Lycium barbarumandthe diferences infruitcrackingrates among7l varieties (lines)wasconducted.Theresults showed that the longer the soaking time of Lycium barbarum fruits,the greater the cracking rate.The cracking patternswere mainlyunidirectional longitudinal cracking or bidirectional longitudinal cracking,and thecracking locations mainlyoccurrdon the side of the pulp close to the diaphragm.The cracking rates of different varieties (lines) ranged from 0% to 92% ,showing significant differences.A total of1Ovarieties (lines)resistantto cracking,19varieties (lines)notprone tocracking,28varieties(lines)prone to cracking,and 14 varieties(lines)extremely prone to cracking were screened out.These canserveas references for the commercial quality evaluation of Lycium barbarum fruits and the genetic breeding of crack-resistant fruits.
