Effects of different humus enhancers on humification process of cattle manure compost

Abstract:Toivestigateteectsofdierenthumficationhncsonthumificatioprocssugcompostiofcatluead corn straw, F 'e2(SO4)3 and MnO2 were respectively used as humification agents in aerobic composting experiments.Throughout the composting process,convetioalparameersicludingdymaterretetateadtrogenindicesaswellasumficationiiesndmicoal community structure were systematicallymonitored.The experimental resultsshowed thatthe treatmentgroup withadded Fe2(SO4)3 achieved the highestdry mater retention rate and degree ofhumification.Compared with the control group and the MnO2 treatment group, the content of humic acid increasedby11.7 g⋅kg-1 and 10.9 g⋅kg-1 ,respectively.The MnO 2 -treated group achieved the highest seed germination index(GI),reaching 20% . The primary mechanism by which Fe2(SO4)3 enhanced humification of high-fiber compost materialswastroughtesuppressofactealactiviyuringteearlyompostigpaseterbypromotingtherasforatiffulic acid into humic acid. In contrast, MnO2 enhanced microbial respiration by increasing the diversity of bacteria in the early stage and fungi in thelater stage,which led to greater degradationand asubsequent reduction in dry matter retention.
