Abstract： To discuss the applicability of the general contracting management model for cultural relics protection projects， this paper systematically analyzes the scope of application of various general contracting models for such projects based on examining the characteristics of different engineering management models and the classification， definition and features of various cultural relics protection projects. Meanwhile， it proposes a safeguard mechanism for the implementation of the general contracting model from three aspects： regulatory systems， general contractors，and project managers of general contracting projects. It is expected to provide references for the future implementation of thegeneral contracting model in cultural relics protection projects.
