Observation on the eficacy of key muscle motor point acupuncture combined with exercise training in patients with spinal cord injury

Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the effectof acupuncture atkey muscle movement points combined with exercise trainingonneurophysiologicalindicators,muscle toneandqualityof ifeinpatientswithspinalcord injury(SCI).Methods EightySCIpatientsadmitted tothe Centerof Hospital AfliatedtoCapital Medicalfrom September 2O22 to June2O24 wereselected.Patientsweredivided into the control group(receiving routine acupuncture combined with exercise training,4O cases)andtheobservation group(receiving acupuncturecombined with exercise training at key muscle movement points,4O cases)acording to the random number tablemethod.Theneurophysiologicalindicators[motornerveconductionvelocity(MNCV),sensorynerveconductionveloity (SNCV),limbfunction[Fugl-MeyerAssessment (FMA),ModifiedAshworthScale (MAS)andqualityof lifeBarthelindex, functional independencemeasure (FIM)] werecompared between the two groups.ResultsAfter intervention,the MNCV and SNCVof median nerve,ulnar nerve,tibial nerveand common peroneal nerve were increasedin theobservation group than those in the control group ( P<0.05 ).After intervention,therewerehigherFMA scores,Barthel index andFIMscoresin theobservation groupthanthoseofthecontrol group,whilethe MASscore waslower than thatofthecontrol group( P<0.05 ) ConclusionAcupuncture at key muscle movement points combined with exercise training can efectively improve the neuroelectrophysiological indicators,limb functionsandqualityoflifeofSCIpatients,whichisfeasiblerehabilitation intervention program.
