【Abstract】BackgroundRecent studies show that dietary interventions can induce remission of type 2 diabetes melitus (T2DM)inindividualswithoverweightorobesity,butrelatedevidencefrom Chinaremainslimited.ObjectiveTo evaluatetheclinical eficacyofashort-termdietaryinterventioninobesepatientswithabnormal glucosemetabolismandto examine its impact on hepatopancreatic fat content and pancreatic β -cell function.MethodsFrom March 202O to August 2022,60 obeseadults withabnormal gucose metabolismatending the ObesityClinicof theDeparmentof Endocrinology,Putuo Hospital,Shanghai UniversityofTraditional Chinese Medicine,wererandomizedtoalow-caloriebalanceddiet(CBD; n=30) or a meal-replacement diet (MRD; n =30) for 3 months.At baseline and post-intervention,group differences in changes in body composition,laboratoryindices,andimaging examinationwerecompared.ResultsGroups werecomparableatbaselineinsex distribution,body composition,laboratory variables,and imaging measures (all P>0.05 ).After intervention,both groups exhibited significanreductionsfrombaselineinbodyweight (BW),bodymassindex(BMI),WC,odyfatpercentage (BFP),viscealata (VFA),subutaneousfatarea (SFA),fstingplasmaglucose(FPG)hourplasa glucoseduringoal glucosetoerancetst( 2 hPG), hemoglobin ΔΩ1c(HbA1c) , HOMA- β ,HOMA-IR,liver FF, pancreatic FF,and lipid measures ( P <0.01). Across both groups, mostglycemicinices,idprameters,uriccid(UA)alainaminotrasferase(LTndisuinsistanceiniceird significantly ( P <0.05),whereas HDL-C did not change significantly. Compared with the LCBD group,the MRD group achieved greater reductions in absolute and percentage BW,BMI, FPG,and VFA ( P <0.05). ΔFPG was positively correlated with reductions inBW,WC,VFA,HOMA-IR,andliver FF( P <0.05).The changein HOMA-IR correlated positively with the change in liver FF (r=0.432, P =0.001).ConclusionThe3-month dietary intervention effctivelyreduced BW,BMI, WC,hepatic fatcontent,and insulinresistanceinoeseadultswithabnormal glucosemetabolism,leading tosignificantimprovementsinabnormal glucose metabolism.
