The real experience of patients with failed in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer assisted conception：a qualitative Meta-synthesis

Abstract Objective：To systematically evaluate and integrate the real experiences of patients with in vitro fertilization⁃embryo transfer （IVF⁃ET） pregnancy assistance failure，and to provide a reference basis for the development of targeted intervention strategies.Methods：Computer searches were conducted on PubMed，Web of Science，EMbase，the Cochrane Library，CNKI，WanFang Database，VIP，and CBM on IVF⁃ET failure in patients with qualitativestudies on real⁃life experiences，with a search timeframe from database construction to March 29，2024，and two researchers independently conducted literature screening and data extraction，and quality assessment of the included studies using the quality assessment criteria for qualitative research of the Centre for Evidence⁃Based Health Care of the Joanna Briggs Institute （JBI），Australia，and finally analysed and integrated the results of the included literature using a pooled integration approach.Results：A total of 13 articles were included，and 41 findings were distilled into 9 categories，resulting in 4 integrated findings： IVF⁃ET failure negatively affects patients psychologically，changes and stresses in the lives of patients with IVF⁃ET failure，post⁃traumatic growth in patients with IVF⁃ET failure，and the presence of unmet needs in patients with IVF⁃ET failure.Conclusion：Healthcare professionals should identify the negative psychological experiences of patients with IVF⁃ET failure at an early stage，endeavour to explore the positive experiences of the patients，pay attention to the real experiences and needs of the patients，and implement targeted measures to help the patients find their self⁃worth.
