Editor's Note： Yunnan is home to 127 national and 686 provincial intangible cultural heritage items，spanning diverse categories such as folk literature， traditional music， traditional dance，and craftsmanship. They reflect the rich and vibrant cultural mosaic of the region's many ethnic groups. Duan Shukun is a provincial-level representative inheritor of the Bai tie-dyeing technique， which has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. In the interview below， we explore Duan's personal journey-and that of his family-in preserving and reinventing this time-honored craft.
