Effects of Different Additives on the Maturity Process and the Emissions of Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide during Sheep Manure Composting

Abstract：Toaddressthe issueof tailing wasteaccumulation frommaterials such assuperphosphateandmagnesiumsulfate， reasonablyenhancethecarbosequestrationandemisionreductionpotentialaswellastequalityoforganicfertilizerinlivestock andpoultrymanurecompostingandtoreducethecostofcompostaditives，thisstudyaimedtoprovideboththeoreticalbasisand practicalreferencefortheresourceutlizationoflivestockandpoultrymanureandthesustainabledevelopmentofagriculture.Using sheep manureandwheatstrawasthemainrawmaterials，a5O-daycompostingexperimentwasconductedtoinvestigatetheefectsof superphosphateand magnesiumsulfateonthe maturityprocess of sheepmanurewindrowcompostingandonammonia（NH）and hydrogen sulfide （H I2S ）emissions.Key parameters monitored included compost pile temperature，pH，moisture content，seed germination index （GI），and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio （C/N），as well as the emission rates of NH3 and H2S .Results showed that adding （204号 1%（w/w） superphosphate accelerated the heating rate of the compost pile，prolonged the high temperature duration，reduced pH， moisturecontent，andC/Natioandimproedthesedgeminationindex，significantlyhancingcompostmaturityFurtheth addition of 1% superphosphate effectively reduced the emissions of NH3 and H2S ，with the average emission rates decreasing by 20.84% and 18.24% ，respectively，thereby markedly improving nitrogen retention and gaseous polltion control.In conclusion，during sheep manure composting，adding 1% superphosphate can promote the decomposition and transformation of compost materials， accelerate maturity，and reduce the emissons of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide.
