Abstract:The pattrn of gas-liquidcountercurrent flow in inclined wellbore with high-viscosity liquid phase has scarcely studied.Inthis paper,a visual simulation test device based ongas-liquid countercurrent flow in directional wels during bullheading kill was designed, and it was applied for bubble migrationandflow patern conversion tests at diferent apparent gas-liquid velocities,liquid-phase viscositiesand wellbore inclination angles. The testresultsshow that with thehorizontal inclinationof the welbore, the migrationvelocityof small bubbles decreases gradually, and the migration velocityof Taylor bubbles increases gradually, and the countercurrent liquid velocity and liquid phase viscosity can inhibit bubble migration.Given a constant apparent liquid velocity, as the apparent gas velocity increases, the flow patern converts from bubble flow to elastic cap flow and slug flow.
Given aconstant apparent gas velocity,as the apparent liquid velocity increases, the bubble flow changes to elastic capflow. In case of bullheading kill, the viscosityof thekillfluid can be appropriately increased to press the bubles back in the wellbore more eficiently.Theresearch results can provide theoretical and technical support for safe and efficient well control during deepwater oil and gas development.
