Study on temporal variation of hemodynamic indicators in the affected limb of patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty treated with venous foots pumps

Abstract  Objective：To explore temporal variation of hemodynamic indicators in the affected limb of patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty（TJA） treated with venous foots pumps（VFP）.Methods：A total of 30 patients who underwent TJA in the orthopedics department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Beijing were selected as the research subjects from January to March 2021.Hemodynamic indicators such as peak flow velocity（PFV），mean flow velocity（MV），blood flow（BF），and vessel diameter（Vd） of the femoral vein and popliteal vein in the affected limb of patients were collected by color Doppler ultrasound before applying VFP，after applying VFP for 10 minutes，after applying VFP for 30 minutes，after applying VFP for 1 hour，after stopping VFP for 10 minutes，and after stopping VFP for 30 minutes.Then，the temporal variation of  hemodynamic indicators was analyzed.Results：The PFV and MV of patients after applying VFP for 30 minutes were faster than those before applying VFP（all P<0.05）. However，there was no statistically significant difference in PFV， MV，and BF of patients between after applying VFP for 1 hour and after applying VFP for 30 minutes（all P>0.05）.There was no statistically significant difference in PFV，MV，BF，Vd of patients between after stopping VFP for 10 minutes and after stopping VFP for 30 minutes（all P>0.05）.Conclusions：VFP can accelerate the venous blood flow velocity in the lower limbs of patients with TJA.It is recommended that single application of VFP should not be less than 30 minutes，and the intermittent duration should not exceed 10 minutes in clinical practice.
