Development and reliability and validity test of cultural competence assessment scale for nurse in nursing home

Abstract  Objective：To construct a cultural competence assessment scale suitable for the characteristics of nursing work of nurses in nursing homes in China，and to verify its feasibility，reliability，and validity.Methods：The scale was constructed through literature review，semi structured interview，and Delphi method.Further improved and evaluated the efficacy of the scale through item analysis and reliability and validity test.Results：The final questionnaire consisted of 36 items，11 secondary dimensions from 5 main dimensions of cultural awareness，cultural knowledge，cultural skills，cultural experience，and cultural desire，with a total Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.937 and a retest reliability of 0.936.Item level I⁃CVI was 0.800⁃1.000，and questionnaire level S⁃CVI was 0.912.The KMO value of the questionnaire was 0.894，and five common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis，and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 50.024%.Conclusions：The scale has good reliability and validity，which could be used to evaluate the cultural competence of nurses in nursing homes.
