Research on Train Braking Distance Calculation Method Based on Multi-Particle Model

Abstract ∵ The calculation of train braking distance primarily adopts the single-particle model method, which simplifiestheentire trainintoaparticle withcombinedcharacteristicsof total mass,velocityand force for analyzing its overall motion behavior.However,this approach significantly difers from theactual operating conditions of trains.This paper proposes a train braking distance calculation method based on a multi-particle model.By employing the longitudinal dynamics analysis approach,a train braking system simulation model is established,where the braking forcesof individualvehiclesare applied to their respective vehicles.The train braking distance is calculated using a co-simulation method.First, the air braking systems of locomotives and freight cars are modeled using the AMEsim software to construct the train braking system model.Then,a multi-particle longitudinal dynamics program for the train is developedusing the Simulink software.AMEsim and Simulink are integrated forco-simulation to calculate the braking distance.The study performs braking distance calculations for two common braking scenarios and compares the emergency braking results with field testdata.The results indicate thatthe multi-particle model basedon braking system modeling closely matches the actual results.
