Abstract:  Based on a compact half-mode substrate integrated waveguide resonator, a single-band bandpass filter and a dual-band bandpass filter were designed. First, by introducing two radial slots on the surface of the resonator, the resonant frequencies of the four modes can be independently controlled, and a single-band filter with a stopband width of up to 3.3 GHz can be achieved. Second, by introducing cross stubs between the source and load, a dual-band filter can be realized with adjustable center frequencies. Both filters have transmission zeros, which significantly improve their out-of-band rejection performance. Finally, the dual-band filter was fabricated and measured at center frequencies of 0.94/2.1 GHz. It has insertion losses of 1.07/1.31 dB respectively. The return loss is better than 22.3 dB, which agrees well with the simulation results.
