Abstract:Osteoporosis (OP)is acommon metabolic bone and joint disease with a high incidence among midle-aged andelderlypeoplein China.Itis dificult tocureandsignificantlyreduces patients’qualityoflife.The kidney-tonifying and bone-strengthening prescription containing Drynariae Rhizoma is an efective formula foranti-OP.Naringin,the activeingredientofDrynariae Rhizoma,hasbeen proventoactonosteoclasts to inhibit bone resorption.Toexplore the mechanismof naringin on osteoclasts,this article reviews relevant research conductedover thepast two decades.It has ben found that naringin can regulate osteoclasts by modulating related signaling pathways,regulating immunecels, and mimicking estrogen-like effects.Our study may provide atheoretical basis for the clinical use of naringin in the treatment of OP and offer ideas for the development of original brand-named drugs for OP treatment.
