Abstract:Aimingattheresistanceevaluationandengineringdesign therock-rubbleconcreteshieldunderthecombination penetrationandexplosionEarthPenetrating Weapons,firstly,afiniteelement modeling methodforrock-rubbleconcrete shieldswas proposed.Byconducting numerical simulations quasi-staticand penetration tests onultra-high performance concrete (UHPC)targets containing diferentcoarse aggegate types (corundumandbasalt),particlesizes (5-15,50,545, and 6 5-7 5 m m ), and volume fractions ( 1 5 % and 3 0 % ),the reliability the finite element analysis approach was thoroughly verified.Then,usingthesemi-infiniterock-rubbleconcrete shield penetrated bythesmal-diameter bomb (SDB)as acase study,the quantitativeinfluence type(corundum,basalt,and granite)and dimensionless particlesizerock-rubble (anging from0.3 to2.2times theprojectilediameter)on the penetration depth was analyzed,andoptimaldesignrecommendations were determied.Furthermore,thepenetrationanalysesthreetypical prototype warheads,i.e.,SDB,WDU-43/B,andBLU109/B,werecarriedout,andthecorresponding penetrationresistances normal strengthconcrete (NSC),ultra-high performance concrete,and corundum rubble concrete (CRC) shields against the above three warheads were quantitatively compared.Finall,theengineeingdesignmethodfortheCRCshieldunderthecombinedeffectspenetrationandexplosion prototype warheads was proposed.Theresults idicate that theCRCshieldcontaining the particle size1.3to1.7times the projectile diameter exhibits the most excelent penetration resistance. Under the penetration three types warheads,the penetration depths in CRC shield were 0.29, 0.78,and 0 . 6 8 m ,respectively,which are reduced by 6 1 . 8 % 6 9 . 1 % and 4 3 . 3 % 5 8 . 0 % compared to those in NSC and UHPC shields. Under the combined effcts penetration and explosion, the perforationlimits theCRC shield are O.55,1.41,and 1 . 4 8 m ,while the scabbinglimits are1.11,2.26,and 3 . 1 7 m .Compared withNSC and UHPC shields, the perforation limitsare reduced by 5 8 . 5 % - 6 1 . 2 % and 4 3 . 2 % 5 8 . 1 % ,respectively,and the scabbing limits are reduced by 6 1 . 8 % 6 9 . 2 % and 3 4 . 7 % - 4 0 . 5 % ,respectively.
