Analysis of echocardiographic features of interrupted aortic arch inadults

ABSTRACTObjectiveTosummarize the echocardiographic features of interrupted aorticarch（IAA） inadults，andto improveitsdiagnosticaccuracyMethodsRetrospectiveanalysisofechocardiographicdatafrom7adultIAApatientsdiagnosed surgicallyand/orbyCTatourhospitalwerecolected.Echocardiographicfeaturesweresummarized，andcausesofmisedor misdiagnosed were analyzed.ResultsAmong7IAA patients，5 patients were clasifiedastypeAand2 patients were type B according totheCeloria-Pattonclasification.In5cases，thedescendingaortawassuppliedbyextensivecollateralcirculation， 1 casebyapatentductus arteriosus （PDA），and1casebybothcollateralsandPDA.The direct echocardiographicsignsof adult IAAincludedthediscontinuityoftheaorticarchwithblind-endingsegments.TheindirectechocardiographicsignsofadultIAA includedstraightenedaorticarchcurve，abnormalmorphologyandpositionofthearchbranches，leftorrightventricular hypertrophyandabnormalabdominalaorticflowspectra.Echocardiographycorrectlyidentifid4cases，misdiagnosed2cases （1 caseas aorticcoarctationand1caseasaorticarch developmental anomalysuspectedof double aortic arch withrightarch coarctation），andmissedcaseAmongthe7IAApatients，4asesunderwentsurgicalcorrctionndallshowedostopative improvement inclinical symptoms compared with preoperative status.ConclusionEchocardiographyofadult IAAexhbitsa certain features，which can be applied to diagnose the adult IAA acurately.
