【Abstract】Firstly,based on theanalysis of recent thermal safetyaccidents innewenergyvehicles,this paper summarizes thecauses,internal andexternal mechanisms,manifestations,andhazardsofthermalrunaway-induced combustionandexplosionacidentsinpowerbatteries.Secondly,itreviewsthestrategiesandrelatedtechnologiesfor suppressing combustionand explosion,withaparticularfocus ontheinhibition mechanisms,research progress,suppression efcts,andlitationsinpracticalresearchandapplicationofpressrereliefexplosionpreventionfirextingusingagent combustion inhibition,andthermalrunawaypropagation blockingtechnologies.Finally,consideringtherequirementsofnew energyvehiclesforthesafetyandreliabilityofpowerbatteries,theresearchprospectsofcombustionand explosion suppression technologies for power batteries are discussed.
