AbstractInthedigitaland networkedenvironment，traditional book-styledirectoryindexing techniquesstilhave relevance.This paper，based on the compilation project of the General Catalogue of Nanjing Normal University Newspaper，demonstrates thatbook-style secondary literature canstillserveasasolution forthe long-term preservation and utilization of specialized literature under specific conditions.This traditional technique deserves atention and reasonableutilization. Bibliography theoryshould also return to its roots in practical tool studies，ofering more necessary support and guidance for the contemporary compilation of book-style secondary literature.
