Abstract This paper explores theapplication of semanticall-based metadata interoperability methods in the field of scientificdata,aiming to promote the sharingandreuseofscientific data.Throughonlineresearchandcaseanalysis,the study identifiessix keymethods formetadatasemanticinteroperability:core metadata,mapping,applicationspecifications, metadata models,metadata registration systems,and ontologies.The paper examines the implementation principles of each interoperability method and itsapplications inthe scientificdata domain.Basedon a comparative analysis,a conceptual framework for semantic interoperabilityof scientific data metadata,grounded inontology,is proposed.The paper concludes with suggestions forenhancing metadata semantic interoperability in scientificdata,including:emphasizing metadata semantic interoperability to enable in-depth information aggregation; constructing metadata ontologies to fully reveal the relationshipsbetween metadata elements;and prioritizing theFAIR principles to advanceboth theoretical and practical research on metadata interoperability.
